Consider this to be a postscript to yesterday’s post on the finale of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Last year when CBS made the shocking announcement of the decision to cancel The Late Show after a 33 year run, the immediate question on everyone’s mind was,“What will Stephen do next?”

Now we know, at least for the moment. Had we paid close attention to a remark made during the finale of The Late Show, we might have found a clue. Stephen had said, “Technically our first show in July of 2015 was from a public access station in Monroe, Michigan for an audience of 12 people. Show business being what it is these days, that’s probably where you’ll see me next.” But who could have guessed what would come next.

In a surprise move, one day after closing his run in the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC, the inimitable Mr. Colbert appeared in the 11:35 pm time slot of the public access TV station in south eastern Michigan as the guest host of “Only in Monroe.” It was the same local, small town show that he had hosted 11 years ago, a few months prior to taking over The Late Show from long time host, David Letterman. What a genius move to bookend an 11 year career on network TV by hosting a small town show in a simple set that could fit in a garage. CBS, eat your heart out.

It was brilliant, as the comments on the You Tube video attest. And this is your chance to watch it if you are one of the uninformed people across the globe who have not yet discovered this gem. Sit back for the next hour and enjoy this masterpiece of down home humor with Stephen and his sparse supporting cast by clicking this LINK. You are in for a real treat.

You are welcome.
